Preventing Financial Loss – How to Identify Spoofs & Scams

Hopefully, we all know to hang up on the Car Warranty robocall by now, but how do you identify other spoofs and scams!? In this webinar, Maine SBDC at NMDC business advisor and center director, Brandon McDonald aims to arm business owners with the knowledge they need to fight off common (and some less-common) scams, attacks, and spoof websites. Participants should expect to gain new knowledge on how to quickly identify fake websites or phone numbers and feel more confident in being able to notice the first signs of a fake situation.

Participants will:

• Go through a mock fake bank website scam to understand red flags
• Examine, and be able to identify fake emails
• Learn how to verify the legitimacy of a caller
• Gain basic computer literacy skills to prevent simple cybersecurity threats
